ISSUE 09

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE

'THE Sunglasses' The signature that is Anna Wintour
Upon recently viewing the documentary, 'The September Issue', I came to quickly learn the fast paced and stress zoned that is the world of fashion. It was interesting to see how long a big issue takes and, during the final decision stages, how different the visions of the Creative Director and of Wintour are.

What I enjoyed most was the vision that the Creative Director, Grace Coddington, had for most of the photo-shoots she assisted in. In particular, the re-shoot for the colour blocking photo-shoot, where she persuaded the cameraman, documenting the footage, to jump and then digitally incorporate the model. I was amazed at the way it was produced especially for the time the documentary was filmed, in 2007.

And....JUMP!

But yes, of course I definitely noticed a slight connection and reference to one of my all time favourite films.....'The Devil Wears Prada'! It was humorous to see how I found the film relate so well to Wintour's persona and the Vogue environment.

Although it was refreshing to see a slight glimpse into her personal life as she hardly/we only see her as this beacon of light as the editor-in-chief. Realistically, in my opinion she is a normal person, waking up to play tennis, having breakfast with her daughter the usual activities of a normal person. What I found ironic, was her daughter not wanting to ever follow in her mother's footsteps in fashion. I wasn't expecting this as you'd have thought Anna Wintour's daughter would be a clone of her mother and immediately create a family tradition of taking over the reigns one day,

Overall, I found I had learnt more into the world of fashion, that I wasn't too familiar with and got to understand the beauty yet stressful and sometimes overbearing role that Anna Wintour has.
