LAVABO X TWITTER

As well as joining Facebook, we felt that it was important to branch out to other social media sites which our ideal consumer would use rather than filter down to a specific media platform.

We decided to use the brand logo as the main profile image, and the stacked fabrics and materials as the header photo, in order to keep a cohesive flow throughout our social media platforms. The colour theme used for our twitter page is made up of soft, neutral tones to ensure that our brand essence is best represented through all of our promotional platforms.

ADIDAS X PHARRELL

Singer/Songwriter has collaborated with sports house Adidas to produce a collection modelled after the Adidas Originals which boasts a number of 50 colours!

I find this collection and collaboration to be different as it has the right balance between both the collaborator and the brand.

My personal favourite are the khaki and the red hues.

What you feel about the collection??

CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENTS

MARK RONSON x FENDI

DJ Mark Ronson as the face of Fendi's 'Fan Di Fendi' mens fragrance...not quite what I would have put together.

Even though I am a fan of Mark Ronson's work I didn't understand why Fendi would have chosen him to be the face of their fragrance. Personally, thinking of Fendi I find it embodies a classic, traditional value not themes that I find relate to Ronson.

As great as the campaign looks with Ronson suited elegantly in a suit, I can't help but feel an older gentleman would have suited the role better and signified the themes of Fendi, as Ronson looks baby faced. Many men I find don't know who Mark Ronson is, or know what he looks like as he spends most of his appearance in his videos shaded or in the background. Which leaves me to think why Fendi decided to front this campaign and wondered if an older and more classical male would have been more suited...

CREATIVE NETWORKS

PERFUME

Today, I learnt some key elements of perfume communication and how to categorise a specific theme of a perfume.
We went over the four main categories which are mainly identified of perfume adverts.

SENSUALITY & INDULGENCE
Objects are desirable, forbidden, seductive. The biggest storyline is relationships and the the key narrative is sexual chemistry. Example brands are: Alexander McQueen and Ghost, particularly this image which uses lighting creating a silhouette and an 'ombre' effect to create a depth in change.

GHOST
TRUST AND HONESTY
Strips away the glamour from most perfume advertisements. Seen as purist, spiritual and authentic, more of a realistic and natural image. In the 90s almost every brand stripped away colour and became anti-glamourous. I have noticed this in recent campaigns, like Narciso Rodriguez who features an natural and bare faced model in their campaign and following a grey colour palette.

NARCISO RODRIGUEZ

HUMOUR & KITSCH
A witty and youthful approach to perfume advertisement. It features a brighter palette and has a maximum amount of content rather than minimal.

JUICY COUTURE
TRADITION & HERITAGE
Category which suits/matches the brand. A question raised most of the time, is the perfume staying by its heritage or moving away? Hermes are a perfect example as they 'own' the colour orange and the majority of their advertisements feature the colour orange.

HERMES

This lecture was intriguing as I wouldn't have noticed this specific categories for these themes and gave me a deeper insight into the understanding of perfume communication. I particularly am fond of 'trust and honesty' as it emotes a realistic and natural approach to perfumery to which it is not overshadowed by the glamour of a perfume advertisement.

Happy blogging!

WANG AW15

Alexander Wang, being one of my favourite designers, I was excited to see the AW15 show but was not as pleased as I thought I'd be. I thought I'd be glad he'd stepped away from sport luxe but in fact I missed the placement of mesh and boxing shorts. I did admire the structure of some garments and secretly wanted to reach out for some outfits from my laptop screen, but seen a repetition of some outfits throughout the collection. I may keep moving from negativity which may be biased from me as he is on of my favourite designers!

FASHION MOVEMENT

1920s MOVEMENT

For my fashion movement choice, I chose the era of the 1920s, the 'flapper, jazz and attitude' era.
It is an iconic symbol of the fashion industry as it was the evolution of the 'flapper girl'. The 'flapper girl' embraced popularity and had a 'modern' approach to life in that decade. More commonly now referred to as the 'Gatsby' era, I only became obsessed with this decade's fashion and lifestyle after Baz Luhrmann's creation. Since then I have used any excuse to mention and feature this movement.

I created a mood board which I feel embodied that decade.

My 1920s Representation

I chose to do a grid approach, in my own style, as I found this composition incorporate with this decade well.
Since only starting to ever create my first mood boards during the last module I found the process gains you more inspiration into creativity. I also found that I have improved on which image goes well with each other and use my photoshop skills to create a professional image.

Until next time!

CURIOUS CASE

FENWICK.

I read an interesting article on Business of Fashion this morning.
Having worked for Fenwick of Leicester I related to this article in some way. Whenever I mentioned I worked at Fenwick, many were left bewildered and didn't know what the organisation was, which bewildered me. The company was first set up in the early 19th Century and has over 11 stores over England yet, many have not heard of the franchise.

NEW YORK. DAY 6

DAY SIX.

I found some WiFi at the airport so, keeping you guys up to date of our last day. After checking out we decided to do some last minute shopping and also have authentic New York pancakes! We went to a quaint diner, I had pancakes with bacon and coffee, what I am seriously going to miss American coffee, it was a delicious breakfast!

We had to come back to the hotel at 15:00pm which sadly went too quick.
New York has been such an incredible experience which I find everybody has to do! Their customs and life is so different yet amazing. These past few days have gone so quick and it makes it harder to go and leave NYC but, I will be back!

Before ending this post I wanted to mention the visual merchandising I saw around New York, as part of our tasks when we arrived, in all fairness I was not overly impressed. Most window displays seemed to be repetitive of previous seasons and did not stand out to me and some windows were being dressed, Louis Vuitton, Tiffanys & Co (though we were just in time to see their christmas). We were lucky enough to see Bergdorf Goodman before they took them down.

New York has been such a pleasure and I have learnt many things!

NEW YORK. DAY 5

DAY FIVE.

Our last full day in New York! So upsetting. We decided to go to The MET, no not The METS, and it was amazing! So many floors and galleries you could spend a whole day wondering around. We visited two exhibitions, we saw the 'History of the Kimono' and Anna Wintour's 'Mourning Attire' exhibition.

After the MET we walked down along Madison Avenue, we popped into some of the boutiques and noticed the seasonal changing visual merchandising, some windows were currently blank where some still had their christmas models and design.

We visited Grand Central Station and after been told by my sister, since her last visit to New York to try 'the best red velvet cupcake ever' we took a trip to Juniors and it was the best experience and idea ever. No other cupcake can compare.

On our way back from Grand Central, we decided to have a pit stop in the Public Library and seen the Public Sharing exhibition. It was an intuitive exhibition, we learnt how photographers from the 18th and 19th century distributed their artworks before technology became and how during this present time how social media has made a change in photo sharing, we were really glad we went to this exhibition.

To end off a great week in New York, we had dinner at Ellen's Singing Diner at this moment my battery died so I couldn't capture any pictures but there was never a drag moment and we all had an enjoyable experience!

I am currently now induced in a food coma and still have a lot to pack for tomorrow's 12pm checkout.
Until next time!

NEW YORK. DAY 4

DAY FOUR.

We travelled to Brooklyn today by boat. The views of New York across the pier was beautiful the pictures did not do it justice!

We had a lovely and sombre day in Brooklyn, we didn't know it had so many vintage and unique shops. It was a different environment to Manhattan, the people were more approachable and it was a more calming atmosphere, they even related to us when we were speaking about the drastic cold weather yesterday!

Cute bookshop

I admired Brooklyn's street art, each piece was unique and inspirational. Perhaps my favourite part of Brooklyn.

After countless attempts to find Brooklyn museum to see the 'Killer Heels' exhibition we failed. So, we decided to visit Central Park and also explored Macy's and did some shopping too. Central Park was breath taking and so peaceful, it definitely felt like I was transformed into 'You've Got Mail'.

NYC...HEY THERE!

SO, tomorrow is the big day!

Currently sat in my uni room anticipating the countdown until my alarm goes off my 'anxious' feeling has shifted and butterflies, nervousness and wait for it excitement has escalated.

I am most excited to see the wacky to the chic street styles of New Yorkers and hope to incorporate them into my Street Style essay to eating as much Pizza as I can and seeing breath taking land marks. It's safe to say I am ready for New York, probably not the cold weather, let's hope New York is ready for a overpacked-airport stresser-excited girl.

So for now I must farewell from you England and the next time we must be interacted will be me writing my stories and sharing my photos from New York.

Hasta-la-Later!

2014-STYLE AWARDS

JAMIE CHUNG

I began to follow Jamie Chung on Instagram, as I saw some of her images appear on the 'popular' page of Instagram and from there began to follow her blog. I particularly liked her OOTD uploads as not only does she give details where he outfits are from, she also reviews them.

I admire the contrast in her style, how she differs from edgy to chic to casual. Here I have selected a few of my favourite looks.

BOF.

BoF

What is BoF? I asked that myself. Before starting this course I was unaware by how many fashion news websites there was!

We were informed of a popular and informative site, called Business of Fashion. As is subscribed my morning routine has never been the same. Instead of checking missed messages, hardly none usually, Instagram feeds etc, I check my mailbox and see if there is any change in the fashion world, new trends? new directors of brands? even scandals?

I remember an article which intrigued me the most....

http://www.businessoffashion.com/2014/09/u-s-retailers-suffer-shoppers-go-online.html

I found it shocking that most people would now buy their 'back-to-school' clothes over the internet rather than go into store.

I remember when I was in school, I'm only at university now so I'm not THAT ancient, the only thing that could get me excited for early wake up calls was thinking of all my new clothes! The excitement I used to get carrying, not me literally- my parents, all new outfits trying them on in store and now the growth of online shopping has spread to this???

No, I don't believe children, or even secondary school students are living their childhood by shopping for uniforms or back-to-school clothes by shopping online. This article was an eye opener as back-to-school shopping is one of the biggest rushes next to christmas sales and by having it fall by 4.7 percent is shocking.
