JPG

For my advertising analysis I decided to choose a Jean Paul Gaultier advert, which has been a series of storylines based upon a love story between a sailor and a conservative woman, by day.

I decided to choose this advert based upon the historic story it is loosely based upon and I admire how throughout the years of these perfumes have been released they have carried the same story and aesthetic.

It expresses the characteristics of Jean Paul Gaultier for both male and female audience: seductive, desirable, confident.

AA- LAYOUT iD

Advert Analysis layout

For the layout inspiration I decided to go with iD magazine.
I focused on the summer 2012 issue of the magazine as I had a copy too. I particularly admired the font colour of the issue with its logo in a mid brown with a black and white image.

I found a particular article which caught my attention and I found it suited the style of the brand of Jean Paul Gaultier and the advert I was analysing. It had the great balance of picture to word ratio as it predominately placed its images alongside a group of text. Though it features a lot of white space I found it worked well and helped break my analysis layout, I found the article to be a great starter by to use as influence for my layout.

As for the magazine, honesty is being shown here,  I did not read iD before my university course. Yes, I know I feel ashamed too, but isn't that the fun of the course finding magazines you haven't read or heard to expand and branch out your creativity??
I admire the mix of content iD features in its issues, personally I admire their placement of text and images by making them as bold to capture the consumers attention.

TOMS

never noticed the charity that TOMS offer. Through any purchases of their products, TOMS help to provide, shoes, sight, water and safer birth services to people in need.

TOMS 4 step plan:1. PurchaseSales of TOMS shoes, eyewear, coffee and bags drive giving through the TOMS one for one model. Everytime a TOMS product is purchased, a person in need is helped.
2. PlanThe TOMS giving team collaborates with other giving partners to plan how we can further the partners' work, by giving TOMS products or helping the partners to provide services.
3. SupportTOMS uses business for good, through tailored products and services, logistical support, local production and more.
4. Give

TOMS giving partners provide products or services, supporting sustainable and responsible programs for communities in need.

I find that TOMS offer not only a quality product to their consumer but also they think about those who are in need of help an important sector which I feel is needed to be explored and shown through more brands and markets.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN: SAVAGE BEAUTY

‘Fashion is a big bubble, and sometimes I feel like popping it.’
Alexander McQueen, 2009

Having already booked my tickets to see this fantastic exhibition held at the V&A in London in June the excitement is beside me!

The first and largest retrospective of the late designer’s work to be presented in Europe, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty showcases McQueen’s visionary body of work. Spanning his 1992 MA graduate collection to his unfinished A/W 2010 collection, McQueen’s designs are presented with the dramatic staging and sense of spectacle synonymous with his runway shows.
The original version of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in 2011 was organised by the Costume Institute and became one of the museum's top 10 most visited exhibitions.
The exhibition itself reflects the gothic, romantic and eccentric mind of McQueen.

VAUNTE.COM

Wanting a vintage bag that you cannot find anywhere or cannot wait 6 years on the Hermes Birkin list?

The wait no more! The recent popularity in luxury re sellers has risen with many consumers now buying 'pre loved' items and they can also sell their own luxury items. Sites like Vaunte.com also boasts a celebrity clientele which sell their used, unworn or rarely worn items which their proceeds often go to charity. Although, there could be the hesitation over buying designer goods over the internet Vaunte and most other luxury re sellers need to approve the item itself based upon receipts and authorisation letters of the items.

So what would you rather do? Buy new or pre loved items?

APPLE WATCH

With Samsung already launched a techno watch, it has seemed to be passed and forgotten by the news and now photo release of the upcoming Apple Watch.

With features that can connect to your iPhone, 18 hours of battery life, water resistant (from rain drops) pay for your shopping or simply swipe through when you are departing for your flight is the Apple Watch a glimpse over how techno reliant the future is set to become?

With prices starting from american $349 for a flexible strap to $549- $1099 for a stainless steel version, there is also limited qualities set to become available for a ground breaking, wait for it, $10,000-$17,000 for 18kt gold versions. So a decision between a car or a watch is the question here.

ZOOLANDER X VALENTINO

The usual demise of florals and gowns debuted during PFW but it wasn't until Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald took the catwalk!

I noticed the debut on Snapchat story, I found myself replaying the story to believe it actually happened, a clever move by both the fashion brand and also the movie company what an extraordinary way to promote a sequel to the popular film!
