NYC. DAY 2

DAY 2

Today was our first official day in NYC! Wrapped up in countless of layers, feeling like an eskimo, we decided to head out and tackle 5th Avenue to become familiar and get our bearings around New York, well attempt to.

I will never forget the strong and bitterness of wind pushing against my face, I have been cold before but NYC was something and apparently we're braced for even colder weather!
New York City!

We walked down 5th Avenue, gratefully our hotel is located right in the centre so figuring out where most landmarks, shopping attractions and museums soon began to become familiar. Walking past Chanel, Tiffany & Co, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton it was an adventure and experience. You could immediately notice the contrast from 5th Avenue to central and the rest of New York, the only way I can express into words how I felt is: I felt like I was in an episode of Gossip Girl. Most people do not understand the appeal of 5th Avenue, I know, but to me it makes you feel surreal and, no to sound silly, but it is in a way inspirational creatively.
We were also lucky to see the Bergdorf Goodman display windows a day before they were supposed to be taken down! Not surprisingly the windows were amazing, it was a contrast to the christmas displays shown here in the UK, the windows were decorative and each had its own theme and unique essence.

Wanting to embody the typical New Yorker we stopped off for a lunch time treat....PIZZA of course, I felt like Joey Tribbiani. The Pizza was as big as my head and every bit worth it!

Best. Pizza. Ever.

We headed up to FIT to see the 'Faking It' exhibition, which I found to be informative and interesting, I have some information upon fashion 'fakes' but did not have much content into how the fashion industry reacts personally and financially.

Today was a busy day for us! We even visited MOMA and because we came in at 16:30pm we got tickets for half price, $7 is not bad at all. I was inspired by some pieces of the Henri Matisse Exhibition: The Cutouts, whilst some were too 'wild' for my likings I preferred Matisse's simplistic art works.

The great thing about our hotel is that it is near The Empire State building! We braved the -7 winds and it was worth it! Going at around 7:30pm-ish there were no queues and we strolled through to the top, elevator of course. The view was spectacular and breath taking even though I had to have a tight held grasp on my camera, literally almost blew away!

To top off a great night, we are once again in McDonalds, yes I know! But our snacks, breakfast and lunch have been American so far! I assure you tomorrow will be authentic New Yorker dinner.

Until next time fellow readers!
